Gary Davis, Executive Director
Gary Davis is the Executive Director of the California Republic Leadership Academy. He has been part of the California charter school movement for the better part of twenty years. During that time, he has fulfilled numerous roles relating to education policy, advocacy, and operations. Mr. Davis has served in the elected positions of School Board Member, City Council Member, and Mayor. Additionally, he has started and consulted with numerous community-based nonprofit organizations and also led the launch of two small businesses. Most recently, he led the startup of the Orange County Classical Academy (“OCCA”). Mr. Davis’ responsibilities encompassed a wide range of tasks, such as petition drafting, securing facilities, hiring over 30 staff members, outfitting the school, policy development, and student recruitment. He also handled various aspects of school systems and operations, among many other duties. OCCA successfully launched in the midst of the pandemic and developed a waiting list of over 1000 students. It is his vision to rebuild the California Dream by educating the next generation of California’s leaders that lead to the founding of the California Republic Leadership Academy. Gary loves California.
Mr. Davis’ favorite book is The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey!
Mr. Davis loves this book because, after reading it in college, The Seven Habits has guided much of Gary’s personal and professional life. It also led to the use of Franklin Covey’s “Leader in Me” curriculum at CRLA as the major leadership development aspect of the school.

Brittany Rineer, Principal
Mrs. Brittany Rineer is the Principal of California Republic Leadership Academy Yorba Linda. She has been teaching in the classroom for 15 years in various grades ranging from Preschool to High school. In her early career she studied early childhood development, then continued on to complete both a bachelors and masters in education from Hope International University in Fullerton. After teaching Kindergarten for several years she followed her passion of helping students, who were unsuccessful in their current schools. She opened a thriving TK-12th private school which accepted students regardless of ability to pay. As administrator she developed a unique curriculum plan of individualized education and leadership skills which inspired learning and led to countless success stories and strong leaders. Mrs. Rineer simultaneously worked alongside charter schools for the past 8 years where she developed 504 plans, was a part of SST’s, and administered ELPAC/CAASPP assessments. She strongly believes that inspiring students to serve, learn, and lead through virtue, critical thinking, and wisdom is key to the success of future generations .
Mrs. Rineer’s favorite book is The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes.
Mrs. Rineer loves this heartwarming story about a class who learns to speak with compassion and understanding, after teasing a girl for wearing the same dress every day. She loves this story because it teaches us to stand up for others using grace and kindness instead of following a crowd.

Sagui Doering, Director of Compliance & Outreach
Dr. Sagui Doering is the Director of Compliance and Outreach at California Republic Leadership Academy. She is a twenty-four year seasoned educator who has taught students of all ages and has led schools in traditional and non-traditional private, public and charter school settings. She holds a doctorate degree and a master’s degree from Pepperdine University, California administrative services and teaching credentials, and a bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly Pomona.
Of those twenty-four years as an educator, fifteen have been dedicated to serving as a school leader and administrator in various positions including assistant principal at Acaciawood Preparatory Academy, dean of students/student development coordinator at Samueli Academy, founding principal at Palm Lane Elementary Charter, head of academics at Port View Preparatory and most recently as head of school/campus director at Fusion Academy Aliso Viejo. Her knowledge and experience has been enriched through her endeavors which include opening a new charter elementary school, serving in various founding leadership positions, and in leading schools to obtain the highest levels of WASC accreditations.She is trained in policy development, regulatory compliance, educational research, data analysis, curriculum development, teacher mentoring, pedagogical differentiation, special education, standardized assessments, charter development, community outreach, and educational business practices.
Dr. Doering loves empowering children and adults through effective teaching and mentoring practices which nurture and unleash the incredible potential hidden within the soul, mind and body. As one who also loves the United States of America, she is excited to be a part of the CRLA team working towards preparing “the next generation of California’s leaders to excel academically, to be proud Americans, proud Californians, and to impact the world with excellence derived from an education like that which produced the inspired servant leaders who founded our great nation.”
Dr. Doering’s favorite book is the Fred Factor by Marc Sanborn
Dr. Doering loves this book because it tells the story of an ordinary postal worker who genuinely cared about the people he served and always went the extra mile to serve them in an extraordinary way. This book serves as a reminder that we all have daily opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of those whom we serve.

Amanda Dawson, Operations Manager

Janine Goodland, TOSA
Janine Goodland has been working in education for over 15 years—teaching and assisting families in public, private, charter, and homeschool settings. In addition, she has a heart for and experience working with foster students and students who have walked through severe trauma. Knowing from the age of five that she wanted to teach in some capacity, Mrs. Goodland eagerly pursued and earned her credential and degree from Hope International University. She has been privileged to have previously taught under Principal Brittany Rineer for eight years and is excited to partner with CRLA families as Yorba Linda’s TOSA—seeing an effortless alignment with CRLA’s vision for equipping scholars holistically with virtue based classical education. She has been married for eight years and has three sweet children. In her spare time, she enjoys baking bread, finding unique food spots, and pour over coffee.
Mrs. Goodland’s favorite book is The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
She loves that Edmond, a quite unlikeable and frustrating character who betrayed his siblings, is rescued, forgiven, and redeemed by Aslan which allows him to fulfill his calling and stand before all of Narnia being named King Edmond the Just.

Vivienna Ahn, TK Teacher
Maya Angelou said, “Children’s talent to endure stems from their ignorance of alternatives.” Vivienna Ahn wanted to become a teacher when she discovered that all young children are kind and have the super-human ability to grow in knowledge and wisdom. She wanted to be part of molding and creating a space for us to learn. She has spent 28 years teaching and can confidently say, she is not the only teacher in the room. Over the years her students have taught her to “Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time” (Angelou).
Mrs. Ahn wanted to be a part of CRLA because she believes in the classical education methods of teaching and learning, especially because it considers the child’s developmental stages. At CRLA, we are prepared and trained to be excellent in the art of teaching and learning. She is a life-long learner and feels most excited about sharpening her tools and what she knows about classical education to cultivate metacognitive and critical thinking skills into the lives of students and their family.
She enjoys taking brisk walks in the morning and writing letters to friends, and also to reflect and meditate in my journal. She also likes to organize her work and living space. She keeps going until she gets it juuuuuust right.
Mrs. Ahn’s favorite book is Hope for the Flowers by Trina Paulus.
It’s about friendship and believing in something greater than ourselves. It resonates an unrelenting hope in spite of facing difficulty. In summary: Joy comes to all who act upon that hope. Mrs. Ahn has been married to her husband, David, for 27 years. They have three adult children. They are pursuing careers in music/entertainment, ministry/music, and education.

Karenna Nelson, Kindergarten Teacher
Karenna Nelson is a TK and Kindergarten teacher at the California Republic Leadership Academy. Her career began with an educational pursuit at Biola University, where she earned an elementary teaching credential and a Master of Arts in Education. With years of experience in a variety of classroom settings, Ms. Nelson has developed both the skill and heart of a successful teacher.
Ms. Nelson is passionate about creating academic environments where every student is free and safe to learn. During her free time, Ms. Nelson enjoys reflecting on ways that she can improve her educational practice and researching teaching methods that attend to the individual needs of her students. Ms. Nelson challenges herself to be a life-long learner, and encourages her students to do the same!
She deeply resonates with the educational philosophy of the California Republic Leadership Academy, particularly its emphasis on a classical model of learning, leadership, and the development of virtue. Ms. Nelson is excited to equip the next generation of leaders in TK and Kindergarten!
Ms. Nelson’s favorite book is All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot!
This book recounts the experiences of a young veterinarian in rural Yorkshire, who encounters many challenges in his work. This was Ms. Nelson’s favorite book as a child, because it is both heartwarming and tear-jerking. This story is especially profound for animal lovers, as it displays that all creatures, whether great or small, are important.

Joanna Young, First Grade Teacher
Joanna Young is a First Grade Teacher at the California Republic Leadership Academy. She is a native Californian of North Orange County, and has been an Elementary Teacher for three years.
Mrs. Young is excited to join the CRLA team because she shares the values that Classical Education offers, and the practices that support a student’s independence, resourcefulness, and positive character development.
She earned her Elementary Teaching Credential and Bachelor’s of Science degree in Child and Adolescent Development from Cal State Fullerton.
Mrs. Young is married, and loves traveling, hiking, and swimming with her husband during school breaks. In her free time, Mrs. Young loves to read, garden, sing and play guitar and piano. She also enjoys family time with her 18 year old, African Grey, girl bird, Sunny, and her nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Young’s favorite book is, “The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles,” by Julie Andrews.
Mrs. Young loves this adventurous book because it teaches us many beautiful and noble lessons on persevering in the face of challenges, and doing it all with courage, dignity, grace, kindness, and teamwork.

Rachel Bass, Second Grade Teacher
Mrs. Bass is the 2nd and third grade combo class teacher at California Republic Leadership Academy. She has a heart for students that shines through in every aspect of her teaching. Growing up on the mission field, she learned the values of compassion, service, and dedication from an early age. Her unique upbringing instilled in her a deep understanding of diverse cultures and the importance of empathy, which she brings into her classroom every day.
With her BA in Liberal Studies from Hope International University, 4 years of teaching TK-2nd Grade, and a background enriched by her experiences abroad, Mrs. Bass is committed to creating a supportive learning environment where every student feels valued and inspired. Through her nurturing approach and genuine care for her students, Mrs. Bass strives to make a positive impact on their lives, encouraging them to reach their full potential and become compassionate global citizens.
Mrs. Bass’ favorite book is, “You are Special,” by Max Lucado.
Mrs. Bass loves this book because it reminds her of her childhood home. Her parents would read this book to her as a child. She loves the message that everyone is different and unique and those differences should be celebrated.

Simon Lopez, Third Grade Teacher
Simon Lopez is a dedicated Third Grade Teacher at the California Republic Leadership Academy. His journey in education began at California State University, Fresno, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Passionate about fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, Mr. Lopez is committed to helping every student reach their full potential.
Mr. Lopez is deeply passionate about creating an engaging, inclusive, and safe classroom environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. His goal is to foster a space that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and mutual respect, aligning closely with the core values of the California Republic Leadership Academy. He is committed to cultivating a classroom culture that not only supports academic growth but also empowers students to become responsible, compassionate leaders in their communities.
In his free time, he enjoys going to the beach, spending time with friends and family, and being outdoors as much as possible. Whether it's relaxing by the ocean, going for a hike, or just hanging out in the backyard, he loves being active and soaking up the fresh air. He also really enjoys going on vacation and exploring new places. Making memories with the people he cares about is what he values most during his downtime.
Mr. Lopez’s favorite book is, “Mr. Lincoln’s Way,” by Patricia Polacco.
Mr. Lopez loves this book because it teaches us about acceptance, understanding and the power of compassion. It is special to him because it shows through compassion, patience and kindness you can completely change a life. It shows a strong message about embracing diversity and teaching real-life values that shows that small actions can have a powerful impact.

Steve Schneir, Fourth Grade Teacher
Steve Schneir is a 4th grade teacher at the California Republic Leadership Academy. Born and raised in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Steve earned his bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State University Dominguez Hills and a multi-subject teaching credential from Cal State University Long Beach.
Steve spent the first part of his professional life as a writer and producer for video games and film. Ten years later, he began his teaching journey, completing his degree and credential. Steve started as a substitute teacher in several LA County school districts and has spent the last five years teaching enrichment in a classical education program for grades 3–5.
The classical approach resonates with Steve. Born of this approach is the concept of cultivating wisdom and virtue, as well as learning the good and loving the beautiful. Steve is compelled to continue these pursuits and sees it as a gift to be part of the California Republic Leadership Academy and its mission to create future leaders in California and beyond.
Steve would be remiss in not mentioning how proud he is of his son, an incoming freshman at Auburn University. War Eagle!
Steve’s favorite book is Heidi.
Heidi is about an orphan girl who goes to live in the Swiss Alps with her grandfather. While she does go on her own mythic journey, the profound and positive effects she has on every character she meets make for a rich story about the healing power of goodness.

Beth-Anne Demogines, Education Specialist
Mrs. Demogines is the Education Specialist at CRLA Yorba Linda. She received a Bachelors degree in Communicative Disorders, and a Special Ed credential and Masters in Special Education from Cal State Fullerton. She began teaching 25 years ago as a special day class teacher and later as an inclusion and autism specialist. Recently she worked independently as a homeschool teacher as well as an education and behavior specialist for the past 6 years.
She lives with my husband and three sons. Her oldest just graduated from NAU, her middle son will be starting his sophomore year at Long Beach State, and her youngest will be a senior in high school. She is really enjoying this stage of life as a mom and almost an empty nester with herhusband.
In her free time Mrs. Demogines enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Demogines favorite novel is, “Where the Red Fern Grows,” by Wilson Rawls.
She really enjoyed reading this with her oldest son when he was in the 5th grade. It’s such a special story about a boy and his unique relationship with his two hunting dogs. They encounter many challenges and conquered situations that many doubted were possible with the help of their special bond.

Brittany Morrison, School Psychologist
Brittany Morrison received her B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University and her M.A. in School Psychology from Alliant International University-San Diego, along with a mental health certificate offered through Alliant's Graduate School of Education. Mrs. Morrison entered the field of education in 2010 and has served as a school psychologist for a number of school districts, as well as having worked for a nonpublic agency. She additionally served as an adjunct instructor for Concordia University's school counseling program between 2016-2018.
Mrs. Morrison enjoys spending time with her family and visiting with friends and extended family whenever she is able. She stays busy with her children's activities and her family's travels. Some of her favorite activities include outdoor walks, reading, going to the movies, going on outtings/adventures to new locations, and taking her family to Disneyland. Mrs. Morrison is honored to serve as the school psychologist at CRLA-Yorba Linda for the 2025-2026 school year. She looks forward to connecting with staff, parents, and students in helping to provide a positive and successful school year for all. She believes that the positive, inviting climate that is CRLA-Yorba Linda is essential to student success, and she is so grateful to be a part of it.
Mrs. Morrison's favorite children's book is Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud and David Messing.
This is a book that assists children in realizing their own happiness by spreading positivity and offering support to others. It is a thought-provoking book that she has witnessed first hand have a positive effect on her own son as he has worked through some of the big emotions that often accompany childhood.

Kathleen Schroeder, Art Teacher
Mrs. Schroeder began her professional training as a teacher at California State University Fullerton. While attending there, she received a B.S. degree in Child Development, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, M.S. in Special Education with specific course training in both RSP and GATE. She also achieved a supplemental CA Single Subject Credential in Art. During the time she was called Miss Crane, Mrs. Schroeder taught for 8 years in the Buena Park School District. For a couple of years after becoming Mrs. Schroeder, her children were born, and full-time teaching was exchanged for part-time at National University.
An important part of Mrs. Schroeder’s life is her family. She has a husband, 3 sons, a mom and many members of extended family which live across the beautiful U.S.A. Being an active part of the Christian church is also meaningful to her. She especially finds designing and painting scenery for the MFAM play productions (Messiah Fine Arts Ministry) fulfilling. MFAM provides something fun for the community to do together.
Not only does Mrs. Schroeder enjoy creating art, but she loves teachingkids! She works at CRLA because the school’s philosophy about educating children is identical to her own.
Mrs. Schroeder’s favorite book is “Little House on the Prairie”.

Annalisa Sell, Instructional Assistant
Annalisa Sell serves as an Instructional Assistant at CRLA. She loves working with kids! her passion is the next generation. She also has a son who attends CRLA. She is so grateful for such an amazing school that focuses on classical education & critical thinking skills. What a blessing CRLA has been to us. Favorite Books are The Bible & Draw the circle.

Carolyn Dawson, Instructional Assistant
Carolyn Dawson has been married for 29 wonderful years and is blessed with four boys, a daughter-in-law, and a precious little grandson. Family is everything to her — she loves spending quality time with them and finding joy in the everyday moments. She also finds deep fulfillment in volunteering at her church, where she can give back to her community and live out her faith in action.
Being a part of CRLA means so much to her. Mrs. Dawson is passionate about making a difference, especially when it comes to ensuring that every child feels seen, valued, and supported.
Mrs. Dawson’s favorite book is Winnie the Pooh—a timeless reminder of kindness, friendship, and the simple joys of life.
